BSNL starts offering post-paid customers unlimited data plans

BSNL has recently announced that it has launched new unlimited data plans for its post-paid customers. So far, two subscriptions packs have gone live and they’re currently limited to the north zone. The carrier states that the tariffs are aimed towards students and the youth.

The first plan is the 240 which costs Rs 240 per month and offers 1GB of high-speed usage, while the 340 which is available at Rs 340 per month, permits 2GB of un-throttled bandwidth. One exceeding the allotted data, browsing would continue to be free, but at reduced speeds of just 80Kbps. According to Zee News India, the new tariff packs are currently being offered in several locations. They include west and east UP, Rajasthan, Uttrakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab.

Post-paid customers on J&K GSM can also subscribe to the new data plans. Additionally, BSNL plans to extend the latest packs to all circles in the future. Just yesterday, the service provider launched its entry-level feature phone called Bharat. The Rs 1099 handset is an internet-centric device like the Nokia 225 and it allows you to browse the web, check emails as well as access social networks like Facebook through a 3-inch display. You also get dual SIM card slots. In other news, BSNL is offering access to Facebook without any internet service. This is made possible through USSD technology and charges start at Rs 4 for 3 days.

While the new unlimited data plans are being offered by BSNL to post-paid customers in the north zone, there’s no word on when the company will extend their availability to other circles.
